BAA Open Coaching Session

BAA held an open coaching session at Silver Arrow on Saturday. Many thanks to Rashpal and Katie from South Bucks Archers for the following report-

We attended the coaching session organised by Buckinghamshire Archery Association at Silver Arrow, Edlesborough on the morning of 20th July 2024.

We were two of 10 or so other recurve and compound archers.

Upon arrival at 09:15 we started with introductions and a warm-up session to get our bodies and minds moving and grooving.

We shot 3 ends whilst coaches observed our form and technique.

The coaches advised us on the correct posture and how to cleanly pre-draw, draw and anchor in a way that would not cause long-term muscle damage.

The rest of the morning was filled with multiple ends where we got practical advice on form, technique and equipment setups.

As there are so many steps involved in shooting an arrow, one great piece of advice was to write everything down. This way we could run through the steps mentally from initial warm-up to stance all the way to release and follow-through.

Overall the day was quite fun and informative and left us each with useful tips and areas to work on.

Lunch at The Travellers Rest, just up the road from the site was also incredibly tasty :)
