Please see below for message from new BAA Chairman, John O'Keeffe.
Hello, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and the Challenge in 2025
As the newly elected Chairman of Buckinghamshire Archery Association, I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and say a little bit about the challenge
facing BAA and possibly archery in general in 2025.
Hello, my name is John O’Keeffe and I am a member of Whiteleaf Bowmen. I was
introduced to Archery in 2002 at Greenwood Osterley Archers in Middlesex, and after six
years shooting Recurve with moderate success, switched to Longbow (still with moderate
success). I still shoot a bit of Recurve and the odd Barebow round as well. I moved to Bucks
ten years ago, switching clubs to Whiteleaf and became the BAA Records Officer a couple of
years ago.
I would like to take this chance of thanking my predecessor Alan Crowe for all his efforts and
time over the last seven years and hopefully will continue to see him at the county shoots.
Looking forward, 2025 could see significant change in how archery is governed in this
country and it will be a fascinating challenge to see how the role of BAA changes.
Personally, I would like to see BAA representing all archers within Buckinghamshire,
whether they are affiliated to Archery GB or not, and it will be interesting to see if this is
possible. With the help and support of the other members of the committee, we will
continue to meet the two main aims of the association (see link below) and to this end
encourage all clubs to take an active part in providing a representative at committee
meetings.
In the new year I will be in touch with club secretaries to gain a better understanding of the
issues affecting each club and maybe shoot a few arrows with you.
Finally, I would like to wish all Buckinghamshire Archers a Merry Christmas and/or peaceful
holiday time and good shooting in 2025.
Kind Regards
John
