Dear member,
You will have seen that the government recently announced (9 September) some changes to the rules around social gatherings, with the number of people allowed to meet reduced to six in England from Monday 14 September.
Following conversations with our colleagues at Sport England and at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) we can confirm that organised sport is not impacted by these new rules. Providing the latest Covid-19 guidelines published by Archery GB are adhered to, this means archery can continue.
Elite archery, as defined by the government, continues to comply with the Step 1-5 guidelines and is currently operating safely and in line with Step 2.
With advice likely to evolve as restrictions change, we’ll monitor and update our guidance to ensure it’s in line with the what the government is advising. You can also visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus for the latest general health information and guidance.
The Scottish Government has also confirmed that the number of people allowed to meet up in Scotland has been cut to six.
Please continue to keep the sport and each other safe. Please ensure you go to your club to shoot and then go home. The exemption we have is for organised sport – the social side of things will have to wait a little longer.
Thank you for your support and feedback so far.
